Meet Our New IRF Provider: Pierre Zabel, DO

Pierre Zabel — known as “Dr. Z” to most of his patients — brings a lengthy and diverse background to the St. John’s Health team. After earning an undergraduate degree in Chemistry, Pierre worked as an organic chemist for nearly a decade with Procter & Gamble, followed by a post-baccalaureate program at Northern Arizona University. During his studies, he taught chemistry, anatomy, physiology, and microbiology. He subsequently attended an osteopathic medical school in Maine, completed his internship at Berkshire Medical Center, and residency at Boston Medical Center and the University of Utah to complete his training in physical medicine and rehabilitation.

Pierre’s passion for medicine is driven largely by his genuine desire to help people, as well as an endless opportunity for learning, growth, and meaningful connection with both patients and other providers. He enjoys the dynamic challenges of unique cases, and believes that medicine is a vibrant field that encourages expansion and exploration throughout a provider’s full career. When he’s not caring for his patients, “Dr. Z” loves to ski, hike, play tennis, ride his bicycle, and play guitar.
