As St. John’s Health prepares to open Sage Living, a new senior living community offering long term care, respite services, hospice, memory support, and short-term rehabilitation, we are pleased to announce that Berit Amundson, MD, has assumed the key clinical role of Medical Director of Senior Living. “Dr. Amundson has already become an integral part of our team,” said Malenda Hoelscher, Executive Director of Senior Living. “Her expertise with medical issues faced by seniors, and her caring, approachable demeanor make her an ideal fit for our current programs and the future Sage Living, which will open in less than a year.”
As medical director, Dr. Amundson coordinates medical care for long-term care residents and provides clinical guidance and oversight for the care teams. “Dr. Amundson is a true champion for expanding our culture of resident-focused care, which is known as the Eden Alternative,” said Hoelscher.
Dr. Amundson earned a medical degree from the University of Minnesota Medical School, and she completed a family medicine residency in Colorado. She continues her family medicine practice at St. John’s Family Health & Urgent Care, where her other professional interests include preventive medicine, women's health, and working with Spanish-speaking patients. In her spare time, Dr. Amundson enjoys outdoor activities, including traveling, biking, camping, and hiking with her husband and daughters.
