Feds announce 2019 Five Star hospitals

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) has just announced the update of its Overall Hospital Quality Star Ratings. Only 293 of the over 4,500 hospitals nationwide received the highest rating, Five Stars. St. John’s Medical Center is the only hospital in Wyoming to be recognized with Five Stars.
“This achievement, one that we have been awarded for five consecutive ratings cycles, recognizes St. John’s focus on providing ever-improving quality care,” said St. John’s CEO Paul Beaupré, MD.
Beaupré noted that CMS has a complex and sometimes confusing system for evaluating and reimbursing providers for hospital quality. “We hope that the quality rating, Five Stars for St. John’s, helps reduce some of the confusion by highlighting the overall quality of our care relative to other hospitals in the state and country,” he said. “I couldn’t be more proud of my team and our entire medical community for their contributions to this outstanding achievement.”
