Learn about innovative approaches to therapies for neurodegenerative disorders at a forum on Tuesday, June 25 at Snow King Resort's Grand View Lodge. Presented by the nonprofit foundation Target ALS, the forum will explore topics including the state of research and development of viable treatments for ALS, Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, and Huntington’s diseases. The goal of the event, sponsored by St. John’s Medical Center, is to expand the local community of individuals—including medical and research professionals, patients and their families—working toward, and advocating for, effective treatments addressing these diseases.
“Public forums like these are an essential part of the battle against any disease, and are invaluable toward our work in treating neurodegenerative diseases,” said Zach Hall, former director of the National Institute for Neurological Disorders and Stroke, prior member of the St. John’s Medical Center board of trustees, and long-time Jackson resident. “These events expand our community of advocates, advance awareness of these diseases and current approaches to discovering treatments or a cure, and offer hope to patients and families dealing with these diseases every day.”
Following a keynote address by former New York City Deputy Mayor and CEO of Sidewalk Labs, Dan Doctoroff, the forum will feature a panel discussion of physician experts and patient advocates moderated by St. John’s Medical Center CEO, Dr. Paul Beaupré.
Speakers and panelists include:
- Dan Doctoroff, founder, Target ALS
- Chris Henderson, PhD, Vice President Neuromuscular & Movement Disorders at Biogen
- Martha G. Stearn, MD, founder, St. John’s Cognitive Health
- Elizabeth Gerhard, patient advocate and St. John’s Medical Center volunteer
- Mark Bromberg, MD, PhD, Chief, Division of Diagnostics & Clinical Neurology at Utah Health
The forum is free and open to the public. A reception and light refreshments begin at 6:00 p.m., followed by presentations from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. To RSVP, email jesse.bailey@targetals.org. or visit www.TargetALS.org/events. The Grand View Lodge is located 537 Snow King Loop Rd, Jackson, WY 83001.
