Breast Cancer Awareness Month will launch on Tuesday, October 3 at 5:30 pm, with "Light the Town Pink" on the Jackson Town Square, marked by pink lights on the southeast antler arch.
The evening will feature information on cancer services and brief remarks about local advances and resources for the early detection and treatment of breast cancer.
"We have already seen advances in breast cancer detection with the use of the new 3D mammography equipment," said Karen Connelly, communications officer at St. John’s Medical Center. "Light the Town Pink helps us remember the importance of health screenings, celebrate survivors, and learn what resources are available."
Remarks will begin at 6:00 pm, followed by a ceremony to recognize cancer survivors. The event will also feature a free raffle, refreshments, and giveaways. In case of inclement weather, the event will be held at the Wort Hotel.
St. John’s Medical Center and St. John’s Hospital Foundation thank Soroptimist of Jackson Hole, Stripping for a Cure, Jackson Hole Women’s Bowling Association, the Community Foundation of Jackson Hole, and donors to the Foundation for supporting the Women’s Health Care Fund. The purchase of the 3D mammography was made possible by St. John’s Auxiliary, the Teton Pines Women’s Golf Association, and individual donors to the St. John’s Hospital Foundation.
