Revolution Indoor Cycling is giving riders of all abilities a new reason to attend a fun morning of cycling on Sunday, March 12, from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm. Known for upbeat, challenging cycling classes, Revolution invites riders to "Rock the Ride," a special event to benefit local stroke and cardiac patients.

Teams of up to four members each will ride for a total of four hours, accompanied by entertainment by DJ GRND CNYN. Prizes and refreshments from generous local businesses -- including Healthy Being Juicery, Kate’s Real Food, Persephone Bakery, Snake River Roasting Company, and Lucky’s Market -- will help participants stay motivated and energized throughout the ride.

"We're grateful to Revolution's Julie Guttormson for organizing and hosting an active morning that supports the St. John's Hospital Foundation," said Foundation Director of Stewardship and Special Events Rachel Merrell. "Funds raised will directly benefit patient care in our community."

Julie Guttormson has a personal interest in this important cause, having experienced a stroke herself in 2006, at the age of 31. Julie had been a vibrant, active athlete who enjoyed skiing, running, and cycling in addition to her career in hospitality sales and her sideline passion of teaching fitness classes.

Learning she had experienced a stroke was a shock, but Julie knew she was extremely lucky to walk away healthy and with no side effects. During the year that followed, Julie entered many athletic events, including the Ironman Coeur d’Alene, and she turned her passion for sharing fitness into a career.

With the support of her husband and two small children, Julie opened the doors of Revolution Indoor Cycling in March, 2012. This year marks Revolution’s 5th anniversary, and the 11th anniversary of her stroke.

Pre-registration for “Rock the Ride” is recommended, due to limited space. "We are challenging each team to raise a minimum of $500 to support the cause by reaching out to friends and family or by recruiting a business sponsor," explained Merrell. "The money raised will make a meaningful difference for local patients."

Prizes will be awarded to the teams with the highest mileage, highest fundraising total, most spirit, best dressed, and more.
