In the most recent Hospital Safety Grades announced by The Leapfrog Group,
St. John's Medical Center again received an "A", the highest
grade given, a distinction earned by only one third of U.S. hospitals.
The Leapfrog Group is a national patient safety watchdog that assigns
grades based on publicly available hospital safety data. The St. John’s
Living Center also received an A.
"This high grade from Leapfrog mirrors other accolades St. John's
has recently received," said St. John's CEO Paul Beaupré,
MD. "I continue to be impressed with the steadfast commitment of
physicians and hospital staff to ensuring patient safety as a top priority.
In the case of the Living Center, this is especially noteworthy given
the limitations of a facility that is nearly 30 years old. We are pleased
that with the community’s support at the SPET election, we will
be able to build a new center with dedicated areas for memory care, short-term
rehabilitation, long-term care, and hospice."
“Hospitals that earn top marks nationally in the Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade, have achieved the highest safety standards in the country,” said Leah Binder, president and CEO of The Leapfrog Group. “That takes commitment from every member of the hospital staff, who all deserve thanks and congratulations when their hospitals achieve an ‘A’ Safety Grade.”
Developed under the guidance of an Expert Panel, the Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade uses 30 measures of publicly available hospital safety data to assign grades to more than 2,600 U.S. hospitals twice per year. It is calculated by top patient safety experts, peer-reviewed, fully transparent, and free to the public.
